    Lenovo y50 comes to mind as a solid choice. find an i7 with a hdd and a ssd and you'll still be under your budget.

    if you are just looking for an all around laptop to do some light gaming on, get the second one, with the amd cpu/gpu. the first will be good for little gaming. however, if you want a hardcore gaming laptop, those cost a good bit more.

    MSI GT70 or GE70

    both are excellent at their respective price points. the gt 70 is best no doubt especially for what you need it for but for the price the ge 70 is good.
