Thanks for the reply. I believe why I need the digital audio out from the tv to the AVR is that I don't have ARC HDMI as my TV's are pre this convention which was introduced in 2009, & this connection allows me to play the TV audio via the AVR. I tried your suggestion but still receive no audio...
