If you can, you should get an i7 series cpu and use integrated graphics, but I don't know if you can find those on the market particularly in that price range. Are you using vray or iray to render in 3dsmax?

the main upgrade you could do would be an ssd upgrade, getting some really quick storage, lightning quick boot times and a better experience. Unfortunately I doubt you can do a GPU upgrade or CPU upgrade that is meaningful. I would highly recommend a new ssd, it would make it a nice portable...
