I use a scart cable to connect the dvd to the tv. The audio works then but only through the dvd player. Doesnt work the other way round, if that makes sense?

I have a sonykdl50w829b tv and a sony s master sorround sound systrm. The tv has optical audio but the sorround sound/dvd player doesnt. TV has hdmi rca but the ss only has hdmi out (dvd only). The tv has blue, green, yellow input sockets, dvd doesnt have anything like that. I have tried...
