    I would personaly go with with 970, as they preform sinificantly better then 960s, and assuming 1080, you wont need 4Gb of vram.

    MSI GE60 2PC Apache RAM Upgrade?

    I have a GE 60 Apache pro that I upgraded from 8 to 16 GB yesterday, and it works fine. I would think that the two laptops would have comparable internals, though my suggestion is open it up and see if you have a extra ram slot.
