Solved! Accidentally pressed the power button and the screen shuts off

I guess I am confused about the issue. Can't you just hit the power button again? I'm assuming you put it to sleep.

Solved! asus laptop blank screen after cleaning

Try taking it apart again and checking all the connections. It's easy to forget to plug a ribbon back in on laptops.

Solved! integrated graphics favoured over dedicated

Yeah, so that model uses Nvidia's Optimus which is supposed to automatically switch between the discrete and integrated gpu based on the task. You will have to configure the settings in the Nvidia control panel. Try these steps first...

Solved! hang problem in lenovo laptop

Did you have to restart it to get it working? It sounds to me like you may have an driver conflict of some sort. Solved! Random Lenovo power failure

It could just be a failing hard drive. I'd download crystaldiskinfo or hwinfo64 to check its health. When it is in the reboot cycle, how far into startup does it make it? Can you get it to boot into the bios?

What he thinks you should or shouldn't do based on the limited information you gave him is relevant because you asked for his opinion by making a forum post. He also gave you a solution - unplug the keyboard ribbon.

Solved! How do I disable my laptop keyboard without also disabling the touchpad?

I think physically detaching the keyboard ribbon is the best bet. Like Lutfij said, messing with old drivers can cause a lot of issues down the line.

Solved! Using a different charger to charge my laptop

It won't damage anything, but it will charge slower. It also might shut down randomly and/or throttle certain processes.
