ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

The symptoms described in this hotfix sounds a lot like what I am experiencing: http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/977178 The only thing is that my HDD is only 500 GB and not 1 TB and I don't know if I have one of the STOP-errors mentioned. Could I mess something up by running it if its not the...

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

I think the thread in your link sounds very much like my problem. However it seems like it's at desktop and not a laptop. I dont know if that should matter regardning the hybrid sleep mode - I figure it's mainly used for desktops? - What is jimicron controller? Is it something I have and how do...

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

Dont know how much you need, but here it goes (I have left out hotfixes as it was an (even more) overwhelmingly large amount of text): Summary Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1 CPU Intel Core i5 460M @ 2.53GHz 42 °C Arrandale 32nm Technology RAM 4,00GB...

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

Yep, sure, I am in Windows. Then leave the pc alone untill it goes into sleep mode. Then when I try to use it again it crashes. By the way: I guess I could make a work around by just disabling sleep mode altogether - but I would be more happy if we could solve the real issue.

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

Well, now I tried resetting through the BIOS menu. It didn't help. So now I guess I should try removing the batteries. I have however narrowed the problem down a bit: I tried changing the settings i Windows power management so that the laptop didn't go into sleep mode and I ddn't get any...

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

I'm just a bit wary towards opening my laptop and fiddling with its guts... I Think Ill try from the BIOS menu first. If it doesn't help Ill venture into the unknown depths of my laptops bowels. Thanks for the help. Ill return with updates.

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

Alright, then I will try resetting the BIOS. Isn't doing it through the BIOS menu just as good as removing the battteries?

ASUS laptop (N73JN) crashes after reinstalling Windows 7

As you might understand from the following, I am by all standards a PC novice - but I figured that I should be able to reinstall Windows on my laptop... Clearly I wasn't. My ASUS laptop N73Jn crashes after reinsalling Windows 7 Home Premium. I reinstalled because I ocasionally was experiencing...
