    Windows 7 is connected with the motherboard, all you have to do is download that version of windows off of any site really and put in your key.

    Im also a programmer and I personally use the Lenovo ThinkPad X240, its a great little machine. I have had no problems with it and its got a decent processor. Its a little expensive, but in the long run its worth it.
