the latest versions of Dolby Pro Logic are pretty good at upconverting surround sound from 2.0 sources. As @americanaudiophile mentioned, it will not be perfect, but it will work. You should see if you can demo a receiver in your system to see what you think. Or at least bring in your media...

@marv the Nexus phones are direct from google. They come with the latest version of android and are clean, no bloatware, no 3rd party UI! Given the Note5's lack of external memory and removable battery, I am eagerly anticipating the new Nexus phone.
