Your screen might have a dead pixel. This is when your screen didnt respond for a second, and now the pixel is there temparory. You can use pixel softwares for this. Or let your laptop sit with these sorts of videos on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39HUG7QrQi8

If you are really cheap, then don't replace the screen at all. Attach a monitor to the laptop and there, you have a new screen.

Have you tried switching to the HDMI channel on the TV? If your HDMI port has numbers, like: "HDMI 1" or "HDMI 2" and you connect the HDMI cable to "HDMI 1" then you should switch the channel to HDMI 1. If you have already tried this, I am not sure if you have the icon buttons at the F buttons...
