Superfish Removal Tool is a lie?

When I checked my list of installed programs on my Lenovo Y50, I saw Superfish listed for a second. Then it disappeared from the list on its own. I downloaded and ran the Superfish Removal Tool that Lenovo put out. It claimed that Superfish was not installed on my PC, and that no action was...

Samsung Seals Out Galaxy S6 Users to Satisfy Critics

RIP Samsung. Now they just have the slowest android Touchwiz UI, and the highest cost, without any of the advantages that made them appealing in the first place. For that cost someone could get an iPhone or the functionally far superior Moto X, and now it looks like Samsung has deliberately...

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2 GB versus AMD Radeon R9 M265X 4 GB

No, all GTX 860ms are GDDR5. DDR5 isn't even a thing; that picture just forgot the G.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2 GB versus AMD Radeon R9 M265X 4 GB

That page you linked even shows the 860m is GDDR5. The 12GB DDR3L is RAM, not VRAM. The 850m has GDDR5 and DDR3 versions, but that's ofc a full card tier lower than we're discussing.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2 GB versus AMD Radeon R9 M265X 4 GB

What are you going on about? The GTX 860m has GDDR5. You're pulling your "facts" from thin air. Every single benchmark shows the 860m crushing the R9 M265.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2 GB versus AMD Radeon R9 M265X 4 GB

The GTX 860m is better. Not only is AMD failing to compete at the same tier as Nvidia in the laptop/mobile market, but the 860m is actually a tier above the M265X. There's no comparison. The 860m is by far the better card.

How well will this run games? i need a laptop that isnt to big or heavy as id like to use it for school as well

If you can get the i7 version for $850, do it. That's awesome. However, keep in mind with any Y50 you may want to replace the screen eventually. It's popular and easy enough that there are guides and tutorials for it on various gaming forums.

How well will this run games? i need a laptop that isnt to big or heavy as id like to use it for school as well

@Tinyvoices On the contrary, all games use HT if they support enough threads. The reason desktop i7s don't benefit is because very few games use 8 threads. That's why the desktop i3s and the laptop i5s benefit so much from HT. @GreenPLS Sure, just a second.

@Tinyvoices Having a hyperthreaded dual core won't hurt anything in this case. You'd need a 965m or higher to notice the difference. The i5 version is fine with the 860m, and sits at an unbeatable price/performance ratio. Only $800-$850 for a mid-range gaming laptop is amazing.

How well will this run games? i need a laptop that isnt to big or heavy as id like to use it for school as well

League of Legends and Minecraft would run flawlessly on ultra, of course. Not sure about h1Z1 or DayZ, but the Lenovo Y50 does exceed the recommended specs, so theoretically it should run them on high-ish settings. There's a cheaper i5 version of the Y50 that would offer basically the same...

How well will this run games? i need a laptop that isnt to big or heavy as id like to use it for school as well

It depends on the game. New games will be medium, or high for well optimized ones. A couple crap-optimized games like AC Unity will be at low settings. Older or lower-spec games will be ultra. It's always hard to reach a consensus on how well a PC will run "games", because the word " games"...

Need a laptop for college before July 2015

Well, any gaming laptop will last easily many years for general college stuff. My $250 Acer Aspire worked well enough for two years of college XD. As far as games are concerned... The GTX 860m will put less demanding games on ultra at 1080p easily, usually above 60 fps. (Dota, Dishonored...

Need a laptop for college before July 2015

Not sure what you can spend, but this is great for the price and has a good mid-range gaming graphics card. I'll see if I can find something that fits the rest of your requirements, but a budget would be helpful. I've been researching laptops the past month...

Lenovo Y50 -- Replaced hard drive with new SSD, now having WiFi driver issues

This is troubling. I ordered the same laptop yesterday and was planning on eventually replacing the HDD with an SSD as well.
