    Old computer restored

A Windows 7 ISO can be up to 3.2GB more or less. A Windows 10 ISO is just about the same. You only need internet when downloading the ISO and doing Windows Updates. If I was you I'd get Windows 10. I've seen that Windows 10 deals with drivers a lot better these days. I've seen some laptops were...

    Old computer restored

Let's just do that clean install of Windows before we get more into it. This way we can rule out it's not the OS that's corrupted or anything like that :)

    Old computer restored

This sounds fishy to me. Anyway a Pentium B960 isn't very powerful. Let's try this. Download a Windows 7 ISO, or a Windows 8.1 or 10, whichever one you like; put it on a DVD or flash drive and install Windows from scratch. Not recovery or anything like that. Make sure you format the HDD and...

    Old computer restored

Okay when it crashed, what exactly happened? Did Windows just become corrupted, wouldn't POST anymore, etc. Hm... Download MemTest86+ , boot from it, and let it run overnight or if possible 24 hours. If errors pop up, then most likely RAM is bad. The laptop is pretty old anyway, are you...

How old is the laptop? Specs? Have you tried installing a fresh copy of Windows just to test?

Best OS for slow drive pc?

Think you can try with another hard drive you may have lying around? That hard drive is also not very fast, 5400 RPM and 8MB cache, but it isn't supposed to be that slow.

Best OS for slow drive pc?

Think you can post a picture? 40 MB/s is on the low side. How old is the HDD? Is it even SATA 3?

Best OS for slow drive pc?

Okay how long does it take for something to launch? If it's just 2 seconds then that's normal, be patient man lol. I have a laptop that has around the same specs as yours and it runs fine. Go on device manager and look for the HDD model and then post it on here. If you think there's something...

Help deciding a good gaming headset

I've heard the Hyper X Cloud 2 is really good. I had been looking at other options including wireless ones, but at the end that was just the simple choice for me. I ended up getting them and so far I like them a lot.

How to connect home theater speakers to PC.

Yes of course you can plug in your PC to the amplifier! It looks like this: PC -> Amp -> Speakers. When you plug in your computer make sure you plug it in to one of the inputs. As for a product suggestion, I don't have a home theater setup, but from what it looks I think you're gonna need around...

Using Windows 8.1 on Asus UX501VW which only has Windows 10 drivers listed

The drivers MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT work with Windows 8.1, they're designed for Windows 10. You could contact ASUS support. Another thing you could do would be downloading the drivers from the specific component manufacturers' websites, just like you said, although I'm not sure if that'll work very...

How to connect home theater speakers to PC.

Nah mate. You need an amplifier to run those speakers. You see, the computer won't be able to provide enough power to them to make them even produce sound, they need energy to function. For example, you see how all computer sound systems have to be plugged in to a power source and to the...

    STRONG bass speakers for PC

I have the Logitech Z623 2.1 Speaker set and I love them! I am not an audiophile or anything, but for a normal person they are great. It has an adjustable bass knob too. I think the Z623s are great budget speakers, they are at around $100 on Amazon, but I'm sure you can get them cheaper on eBay.

    Speakers For Gaming Rig?

You're right I agree with you, I feel like bookshelf speakers give me the ability to customize the system to my own taste and can be upgraded easily, instead of just having to buy a whole new set. I kept reading reviews on the Z623s and people either love them or hate them, so nah, don't want to...

    Speakers For Gaming Rig?

Uff... I'm now confused, I don't know what to buy. I want a 2.1 system for my computer, I don't have space for a 5.1 sadly and I don't think I'll be moving anytime soon. What speakers, sub, and amplifier would you buy with a $200 budget? I'm honestly just thinking on going for the Z623s but I...
