Update: Budget increased to 1200-1400. Any better laptops for those prices?

I'm about to start college soon and I'm looking for a decent laptop to help me out. I'm a computer engineer and do intend on playing video games(probably not too intensive, fortnite stuff like that) and I have no idea where to start on finding a decent laptop. My budget is around 600~

I ordered a soundbar and the only plug it has is an optical in and my tv has nothing like that. The only plugs my tv have are the s video cable and a hdmi's. What cables do I need for the connection to work?

I just ordered a new headphone extension with 3 bands and the surround sound still does not work?

Both my old and new extension has 2, and my headphones has 3. This means I need a surround sound emulator? What are some good ones? I was using razer surround but it doesn't seem like it works.
