    3 volumes: computer, player, speakers

Are you sure the speakers are always the problem? On VLC player, if you set your volume over 100% (VLC supports up to 400%), loud sounds get distorted. I think in this case, loud sounds plateau at some point because there are not enough bits to describe sounds louder than the loudest sound.

    3 volumes: computer, player, speakers

I never really understood how to configure my computer, media player, and speaker volumes to get the least distortion from my music. I've always maxed out the computer and media player and used the lowest speaker volume possible. But I'm beginning to think that this is not right, because I...

    Hot glue gun on Subwoofer

I purchased the Logitech X-540 5.1 speakers from Newegg. I originally had cheap $20 Labtec 2.1 speakers and I could see glue from a hot glue gun seeping out from the drum on the bottom of the subwoofer. I don't expect quality from $20 speakers, but I paid $70 for the Logitechs and they have...

    2.1 vs 5.1

So what does the wattage mean? Do higher watts only mean you can play your music at higher volumes without bad sound coming out? How many watts do I need for comfortable listening? I will never blast it in a huge party.
