Laptop's market is full of products that will do the job for you. I have great experience using Dell and Levono Laptops, so thats my advice in terms of brands. For presentations make sure that the laptop has a VGA output. I could become more specific if you gave me a bugdet...
Nexus 7 more powerful, less expensive
Ipad mini more mature platform, better overall ecosystem (especially if you use iTunes, iBooks, etc)

If you could openup and clean your laptop from the dust, that would reduce the temperatures. Note also that your laptop's CPU and GPU are a bit old and they can't handle very well demanding games as BF3
