    Thanks for your reply, substituting the keyboard in the laptop is not easy . As well as the keyboard not generating letters the alt keypad method does not work either. Regards.

    Hi, This machine has no alpha characters , the numerals work OK on the main keyboard and the numeric pad. It does not recognise a USB keyboard I am unable to log on. Any suggestions appreciated. Regards John Ely.
