Hi,
This machine has no alpha characters , the numerals work OK on the main keyboard and the numeric pad. It does not recognise a USB keyboard I am unable to log on. Any suggestions appreciated.

By "has no alpha characters" do you mean none of the letters work on the keyboard? Try unhooking the keyboard from the motherboard and test with an external keyboard.

Any background to this issue, did it just start out of no-where? Working one minute, then dead the next?

Thanks for your reply, substituting the keyboard in the laptop is not easy . As well as the keyboard not generating letters the alt keypad method does not work either. Regards.
