You aren't going to get a decent laptop running windows for under $300. If you find a new one that is less than $300, it won't be any better than what you have now. What program do you use for car diagnostics? There may be an equivalent on Chrome OS.

I think I was getting the mobile processors confused with desktop processors, I wasn't aware they were any different when it came to hyperthreading. But that just makes the laptop with the i5 even better, lol.

In my experience minecraft will get a small bump from an SLI setup. 80fps with one GTX 660, about 110fps with two in sli.

The one from Lenovo's site is way better. It has a bigger processor, more RAM, and a small SSD. I don't see any reason to go with the bestbuy model.

The HP has a better screen and a discrete graphics card. I would go with that one.
