Which of these two laptops are better?

Hi everyone, I was wondering which of these two Lenovo y510p laptops would be better to go with. I would play Minecraft on it a lot as well as TF2, Kerbal Space Program, etc., but mainly Minecraft. I want to be able to run Minecraft at atleast 60FPS when not recording on pretty high settings.
Another factor I'm considering is which one would run at a lower temperature.

*Most* games cannot take advantage of hyperthreading. i3's and i7's have hyperthreading, i5's do not.

You can get the i5-4200M version of the Y510p from Amazon for the same price or less than having to deal with Best Buy... which is a freaking nightmare the last 2 times I have tried.

Keep in mind that you really need to get a Good Cooling Pad if you are going to get the Y510p, as they do like to run really hot.

The games you are playing really, really do not require a machine like the Y510p, though. It can play BF4 on high settings, it would be way overkill for you and likely not worth the heat, low battery runtime, and quirks of an SLI rig.

How hot do they get? I currently have a HP G72 and it likes to rise to 80+ degrees Celsius in 10 minutes, then shuts down when getting even warmer.

While gaming you will see temperatures hit 95-100 c. You need the cooling pad. Don't go for a crappy Targus one either, you will want one that I linked at the very least. There are more powerful ones as well like the CM Storm SF-19, but you do pay for the performance.

How much would a cooling pad help, if heat rises and the internal fans of the computer are blowing downwards?

I think I was getting the mobile processors confused with desktop processors, I wasn't aware they were any different when it came to hyperthreading. But that just makes the laptop with the i5 even better, lol.

Yeah, the i5 is a strong processor, but the i7 and its additional cores/threads should not be overlooked.

Given the price, my favorite is the i5 Y510p, depending on application and required budget of course.

What can you use the 8 GB Solid-State Drive that comes with that model? Seems pretty small.

It's not actually a drive. It's a cache. It automatically figures out what files you access the most (like OS startup files) and stores them in the cache SSD to speed up operations.

This is what is considered a Hybrid SSD. It's quite nice actually. You get a lot of storage and fast access to files you use the most.

I think in this case it's actually a separate chip that plugs into the motherboard, but it functions the same way as an HSSD.

I heard they also help the computer boot-up faster, is this the case?
