subtitles problem

So, I own an Philips 40PFH4509/88. I have an USB slot, so whenever I wanna watch movie, the movie works, but the subtitles, I can t enable them. The movies are usually .mp4 format, and subtitles are always .SRT format. I ve tried pressing OPTIONS and then SUBTITLES, and pressing ON, but still...
