Missing Doom3 which was scarier then the first doom btw... And replace the first doom with BLOOD. Now that set the lunatic/scaryness with those demons.

Also what about the first F.E.A.R. ? That game really got on my nerves.

I thought Zork Nemesis was pretty scary, back in the 90s. Lots of creepy cinematic cutscenes, a scary-as-f torture chamber puzzle that I actually had to get my MOM to play through because I didn't want to :[

@radium69 — I went with Doom over Doom 3 because it set the standard. I agree that Doom 3 was the scarier title, though.

F.E.A.R. is definitely a good series, though! I have the same issues with F.E.A.R. as Dead Space — a lot of the game is brightly lit and you're armed to the teeth the whole time. The final boss of the first game was really creepy, but beyond that, it was more action-packed than straight-up horror. Definitely a contender, though.

Title says scariest, not best survival horror. So, if you were a kid back in the day, playing Shadowgate on your NES, that was pretty creepy.
