144 hz monitor to a laptop

I want to purchase a 144 monitor and attach it to my lenovo g70-70 laptop, but my laptop does not have dvi port..have a vga port I think. So can I use an vga to dvi adaptor in order to connect it to that monitor? ( i want to get 144 hz that the reason I want to buy it)

it has a hdmi port so get a hdmi to dvi adapter after you confirm the monitor only has a dvi not hdmi port.

laptop has hdmi port on it so see what port is on the monitor. if monitor has hdmi on it as most likely then just need hdmi male to male cable.

As far as I know, with hdmi I will not get 144hz..just 60.
