Solved! 17inch laptop screensize question - confused....

why does my 15 inch laptop have 1920x1080 but 17 inch has 1600x920. i would think the 17 would have better/bigger resolutoin? all the 17 inch ones seem to have lower than what my 15inch laptop has.. can someone please tell me WHY?

Pixels are NOT the same size.

Your 15" has 1,920 pixels across.
Your 17" has 1,600 across.

The pixels in your 17" are larger than the ones in the 15"

If you did understand pixels, you would not have even asked the question.

Pixels are all the same size? Then how would it be possible to increase resolution? It's done by putting more pixels in the same space. By definition, that means smaller pixels

Simply because that is the type of screen used on that model that you looked at. It's like asking why a larger car has less horsepower than a smaller car, it all depends on the car model you can't just look at two of them of the hundreds that exist. There are many 1080, 1440 and 4k 17" laptop models.

Also pixels are not the same size.

What do you do with computers for a living exactly? Knowing about how screen resolution works is a pretty basic thing. I know quite a few people that work with computers but don't actually know how the hardware in them works.
