I found their other video where they can point at something and snap to bring it closer to them even cooler, but overall the whole things is freakin' awesome. I didn't quite understand how they controlled their characters in Quake...
hmmm... this just keep reminding me the system in the "Minority Report"!
It is still a proptotype and a science project. Maybe in few years, we may not only have surround speakers for surround sounds but also "surround sensors" for 3D images + gesture controls.
hmm... how about Avator like real-time motion capture at home?..😉
I love that future is always full of possibilities!!!

ugh please take that line off... forgot it is already been said in the article. Why the edit function does not work here in the Toms' Guide?...>_< ..
Anyway, I am waiting for the day that I can do 3D-gesture control w/ 3 or 6 monitor set up in my home. It can be great for photoshop, video editing, 3D modeling, or some games (RPG, strategy, or ...)
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the gesture recognition in Minority Report require the user to wear something on their hands and/or fingers in order for it to work. Therefore, the Minority Report system was more like the Nintendo Wii or Sony Move. Pure gesture recognition without any type of hardware connected to the user is a lot tougher and therefore the need for all the cameras.
Hmm...
How about 4x the 6xminiDP 2GB 5870? That's 24 outputs from a single system. Then use a Matrox Dual Head 2 Go and put 2 1920x1080 projectors on each, for a total of 48 displays.
1920x1080x48=99,532,800. Sure, it'd be a hell of a lot more expensive, but damn, that's almost 100 megapixels.
You could use 4K projectors, but even Bill Gates would cringe at the price tag of 24 of those.

i am broke, but I will save up and be one of the first to use a working holodeck, that is my goal now, and it seems possible for the first time in like ever 😛!
