[citation][nom]annymmo[/nom]Everything is done in powers of two. Already knew that. So it's the nature of computers that computers can't divide by 1000?Your calculator will surely contradict that fact. The current use of the prefixes conflicts with the Si prefixes. That's why there are those something-i-bytes mentioned. The right nomenclature is described here:Read this article, this link was actually needed in my first post. The correct way of noting down the numbers with the correct standards and prefixes: 1024B = 1KiB, 1024KB = 1MiB, not KB and MB. Stating that 1024KB = 1MB is actually not correct. It's just used a lot. It's adopted as the normal way but it's not the right way to represent things. It's: 1024KiB = 1MiB or 1000KB = 1MB. Have you researched that kato128?Don't accuse people of laziness before you have researched the matter yourself.[/citation]

Please look up the JEDEC memory standards...

[citation][nom]captaincharisma[/nom]im not at my PC right now but i think they buaried the "run" command in the accessories folder[/citation]

You can type in commands like "MSCONFIG" straight into the search bar, they should prolly call the search bar search/run

WTF New??? its just vista with new name a newer theme and they just renamed aero to aero peek, should have been called aero peak, if its anythng like vista aero, peak proccesor and peak memmory usage!

When can they make a OS for gaming and graphics power?
I.E. leave some for other application!!
MS Apparently listen to customers on this one, they should have ben listening to the techs who put up with the constant complaints and bugs that thankfully keep me fixing pcs.

Xp was good, what happened did you fire all the good programmers?

I hate to say this, though looking at win7 it's starting to look like a console interface, instead of a computer interface..

while the new GUI look's good, it's not much different to vista in that respect, though instead of hiding things it's out in the open..

with touch screens slowly showing up in the market given time i think we're going to see win7 as the preferred OS of choice, making previous versions of windows obsolete..

1024bytes has been a KB/Kilobyte for decades. Just because the IEC/Si wants to come along (around 2000) and recommend kibibyte be used instead doesn't mean everyone is going to.

1KB will always be 1024 bytes to me. I will not use kibibyte or mebibyte. Sorry. KB is still acceptable for 1024 bytes or, if you will, a synonym for KiB.

I had not even thought about that. But you're right. The Win7 GUI with its taskbar changes would work well with a touch-screen.

xyz: to get the run command, just press the Windows key and R at the same time, or type the command right into the search bar.

brw: it's a little hard to illustrate performance in this style of review and it's not enormously different from performance in the beta that we already looked at - that's a good thing because the performance of Windows 7 is excellent. I'm finding it as fast or faster than XP on a wide range of PCs from netbooks to desktops and notebooks. It may look Vista-like (though as a Vista user for years, I find the interface quite different and much improved) but this is a significantly leaner and better performing OS underneath.

quantum: why do you need to pick the window to get the tab? why not just click on the thumbnail preview of the tab you want and you go right to it (in Windows 7 at any rate).

give it another 5-10 years I think you'll see, touch screens become more common in the home than we see at present..

at the moment touch screens are more common in business than home though in i suspect, current lcd's to be fazed out to make way for lcd touch screens,,
