It has basically no side effects that can harm humans, though it is important to keep it away from food. Also, it would be wise to limit physical contact with it, but farmers use it around their chickens which dust themselves with it. Sprinkle it in room corners on the floors, and baseboards using an applicator that many companies that sell diatomaceous earth also sell. Twenty pounds of diatomaceous earth costs the same as a number of cans of insecticide which rarely, if ever works because bed bugs are pretty much immune to the products that are available in the supermarkets.
