6950 1gb unlocked to 6970

plain and simple question.

anybody out here who managed to unlock a 1gb to a 6970? there are supposed literatures on the internets that suggest that it cannot be done but without proper basis (like "it's a newer board so most probably amd will remove shader unlocking").

only 2g versions are able to be flashed to a 6970. I dont even think you can unlock shaders on a 1g version.

The fact that all the guides you see talk about a 2G model.
The lack of guides for 1G model version.
The incredible amount of people that have posted failed stories of 1G models.

And dont just flash the 6970 BIOS onto the 6950. Follow bystander's method here:

the techpowerup guide, mentioned the 1gb, although in a context not concluding it can/can't be done.
