7600gt unlock ?

Ive heard somewhere that 7600gt actually have 16 pipes, 4 locked.
Is it true ?

No. The 7600 series has 12 pipes on the die, there are no pipes to unlock.

The new X1800 GTO is theoretically unlockable from 12 to 16 pipes.

The rumour was that due to the die size, and the supposed transistor counts that there was a 'hidden' 4 pipelines. But nothing has born this rumour out, and if anyone could find it I'd think Unwinder would've at least been able to expose those pipes, even if unable to unlock them.

IMO just wishful thinking on the part of many people.

Also, just between those of us familiar with this, do you not think WUSY would've found something about this by now if it were true? :lol:
