200 MHz more than 800 MHz is a 25% increase.
200 MHz less than 1000 MHz is a 20% decrease.
Original poster about speed increase was correct.

Agreed, your math and astute observation of the completely obvious is to be commended.

I think I said there is a 20% difference. Is that not what the OP asked? What is the difference? And I would bear out that in real life, the performance increase would be a lot closer to 20% than 25%. And still, it's kind of irrelevant to bicker over something we have yet to compile all the facts.

It depends on what operating system and how much memory you have in computer:

Windows 98 would be way faster on a 1000 vs a 800

but if you go on xp and have 256 mg memory: their is no noticeable difference between the two: your system will be slow either way.

If you have 512 to 1 gb of memory : their will be a small response difference.
