Hi all,

I'm looking for a gaming laptop for no more than $850. The only deal breaker would be not have a 1920x1080 resolution. I don't care about weight and if it's thin or not. I just want the most power I can get for $850.

I play mostly mmo's like WoW, Wildstar (when released), Guild Wars 2 etc.

Thanks in advance!

You would be fine probably with lower resolution. This is a little closer though

Same performance as the other one really, just loses the keypad and an inch of screen, but your resolution is up to 1600x900

Hi Toddy,

yes, laptop is a must. I already own two powerful desktops. I want the laptop for "playing on the couch or on the bed" sessions :).
The desktop's will still be my main gaming machines.

Hey I've been looking at exactly the same thing and the best one I've found is the Lenovo Y510P for $819.99 >>> http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/

>i7 Processor
>15.6" HD Display
>8GB RAM
>1TB HDD
>NVIDIA GeForce GT750M

Unfortunately its not a 1920x1080 but its basically the best one I've found for the money.

Yes I saw that one. I've never played with 1366x768, though. Might test it tonight at home and see how it is.

This looks like a very good option. The only difference I can find compared to the 510p is the resolution, no keypad is not a big deal for me.

That is correct. From what I have gathered the naming is directly related to the screen size. The 510 series are all 15.6", the 410 ones are all 14". If you bought at the highest end, you would notice the 410's lack a model with dual graphics cards, keypad, and never reach the 1080p resolution. Other than this they seem to be exactly every part the exact same with the exception of the motherboard which obviously is smaller but probably just a revision of the same motherboard.

So if you want to stay under $850 this seems the best solution. 1600x900 is still quite high resolution. I personally don't see any difference at all in images between 1600x900 and 1080p. Seems a fair compromise between price and your valued screen resolution
