Um, adolescence starts at around 12 yesr old. How can the author make a basic word definition mistake by the 2nd sentence of the article? I stopped reading at that point. Does anyone proof read?

The best part of engineering are the free sluts you can get in college, there is no point in getting a degree if you cant get laid in the process. That kid missed the whole point.

Oh hell. GO FOR IT KID!! Just do leave time for some fun no matter what it might be. Enjoy your youth and your friends. Things get a lot faster and frantic as time goes on.

He's got a point in that kids shouldn't be spending all day playing video games. They should be outside playing and socializing. However, he's making a huge generalization. It's already been shown that video games can help improve a number of different skills. I also think it's silly that he makes such a statement about video games, but loves football. If I'm not mistaken, football is "just a game" too !

Of course Gaming is a waste of time. But it's a fun waste of time. It brings the question, if you're having fun, are you really wasting your time?

so can someone tell me what the hell the difference betwee playing a video game and watching HD cable tv? Whatever i guess, he's smarter than me so i have to listen to him right?

Gaming is better. It does develop eye hand coordination where has sitting in front of TV does nothing but entertain as far as I can see. But hey the kid is only 9. Smart and genious possiably, but given the age what do u expect. Nothing wrong with what was said, just shows lack of exp. and deeper thinking but that will change the older the kid gets.

The thing is intelligence doesn't just keep going up as you get older. If you want to bet on this kid that's fine, and a decent bet. Don't be suprised though if he just ends up a network admin. There are lots of MCSE's out there, it is not particularly hard. It just takes time. This kid has taken the time to learn, or take practice tests until he passed. Good for him. Hope he doesn't get burnt out as fast as the rest of us. I honestly think being an admin is boring. Programming, engineering, electronic art etc. would let the kid create something and get positive feedback. Admins just fix broken things or design things nobody cares about.

Bounty:
"The thing is intelligence doesn't just keep going up as you get older." Not true. Intelligence (not IQ) obviously increases as you get older. Most 9 year-olds are incapable of understanding things they will easily be able to understand when they're, say, 23. IQ is different, because it is your intelligence adjusted for your age--so in theory IQ should not change with age. In some tests, intelligence has been shown to increase with age even after adulthood.

[citation][nom]kyeana[/nom]Damn...only 9 years old?!?I would place money on this kid revolutionizing parts of the computer world before he reaches twenty[/citation]
Before doing so, consider that the only thing we know per this article is that he's got a certificate that is essentially like a college degree from an online college. Think on that. I'm not saying he's an idiot. The fact that he put the time forward for this, alone, is impressive. But anyone here can get that cert. Online courses. Just sayin'.

Hey just because Rainmans lovechild says computer games are a waste of time.. doesn't mean they are...just means he is unable to grasp the enjoyment of them.... kind of sad really.
