Hi guys! I just bought a Lenovo Z40-70 to replace my ~4 yr old macbook pro. Anyway, I was going to upgrade the RAM to 16GB. Currently it only has 4GB (single stick) and its terrible. What I was wondering is if 16GB would be significantly better than simply upgrading to 8GB. It would be more expensive for sure because to get to 8GB I just need to buy another 4GB vs the 2x8GB I'd need to get 16.

Specs are:
Intel Core i5-4210U CPU @ 1.70GHz
4GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 820M
500GB HDD

I don't completely understand how RAM works but could there be any bottlenecks preventing me from maximizing 16GB?

um, you have no need for more ram, if you are gaming its your graphics card that is holding you back. not much you can do about the performance of a laptop.

Well... that solves your 8GB or 16GB dilemma.
