Ac'97 or HD?

Ok so my case comes with two connections for the audio, one is ac'97 ( i think is the name) and the other HD? How do I know which one to connect? Do I have to have an HD sound card to use HD?

Another question: if i connect my headset to the back is it automatically HD?

If you have a relatively new motherboard, it is certainly HD Audio. At any rate, your motherboard manual will tell you.

Im also wondering if system will allow two audio device running (onboard and independent)
