Acer 4745 cooling performance

i have Acer 4745G
when i watching video for a couple of hour (1h) it's get really hot
so can i take out the cd rom to increase air flowing ?

what the cons ?

I'm thinking that will not help airflow much, if any. You would have to place a fan blowing into the slot for any effect at all. Your best bet is to use a cooling pad, something like this

Also be sure to clean your laptop well, opening and physically cleaning is best but using compressed air can work if done on a regular basis.
