Hello. :bounce:

Please help me with deciding on my new budget laptop.

I've narrowed down my choice to two laptops as they are being discountinued and im getting a decent deal on those. Both come with no OS. Most features are same, processors are different. Price is also almost the same, difference of $10.

I already have a 4gb kingston DDR3 1333mhz ram stick with me, a friend gave it to me for my new laptop. which I could make use of.

Acer 5750Z

Acer 5733

Please help me decide, I have missed many other features, I just typed what I remembered.

Its B940 vs iCore 370m

B940 supports 1333 ram,370 1066
B940 has better graphicsd ratting (dont know what it meas) base 650 upto 1100, 370 base 500-650 (not sure)
b940 is based on sandybridge and newer, 370 has hyperthreading and faster clock speed and better processor performance.
b940 has 2mb processor cache, 370 has 3mb
b940 max temp is 85 , 370 is around 100

Thanks :hello:

The pentium series tend to be worse than the i3 though. I really couldn't tell you exactly unless you can find some benchmarks for both CPUs. BUUUT, that 85v100*C is not the temperature at which the CPU runs. Thats the Tjunction, the max temp your cpu can run at before it starts getting damaged (computer will usually shut down to prevent this from happening). In real life though, your temps should never get that high. How high they get depends on how well the heat-sink is designed in both computers. Since both give off the same heat (35W TDP) you cant say without testing the 2 laptops separately .

They are like $400 where im located, in India. Here its the best deal that I can get on those specs. Only a difference of $10 between the core 370 and b940.

I'm confused on these specs:

B940 Integrated Graphics Yes, 650 MHz Base, 1.1 GHz Max

370 Integrated Graphics , Base 500 MHz, Turbo 667 MHz

Integrated Memory Controller B940- DDR3-1333 370-DDR3-1066

Both integrated graphics are bad in terms of gaming if thats what you are trying to achieve. Still...I'd say the i3 would be faster because its most likely a different integrated graphics solution with more powerful architecture.

I don't game much, just few games which need even lower specs. But, would the increased graphics clock rate on the b940 help with Photoshop photo processing ? and, I also read that the B940 is newer based on Sandybridge and Core i3 is based on Arrandale, B940 also runs 15deg cooler which would help as I would use this laptop as a downloading rig, and also it does get very hot here.

This machine is for general use with some photo processing, and very light gaming.

:D Thank you, bavman. I think I' ll go with the iCore370m, and thanks for the clarification on the temperature thing.

Benchmarks here, if anyone wants to refer.
