my acer aspire 4315, has a white, blank, screen when i turn it on sometimes..and sometimes it turns on with no problem...i was told that it was the motherboard..any suggestions appreciated.. :??:

Yes, it probably has something to do with either the motherboard as a whole or a bad graphics chip. I'm betting that it has something to do with the graphics chip being damaged due to heat over time. If it is still under warranty, send it in to acer and have them fix it. If not, it may be worthwhile (and save a major headache and additional expenses) to start saving for a new laptop.

i am doubting that it could be the motherboard, because i have no problems using the computer for long periods of time..just when i start it up, is when i have the white screen. after 1 or 2 times restarting it and then it is fine..

Its More Simple Than That, The White Screen usually happens for laptops because when you Shut Down, you also close the lid before you shut down. Doing so tampers with how the Monitor Switches Off. When Shutting down, remember to Wait until its completly off before you close the Lid. " Heres How To Fix It " Keep your Finger on The On Button for 30 Seconds when your Laptop is off. Then Let Go of the On Button for it to start up. :p

Thank you so much for this GREAT POSTING !!!
I was prepared to change the screen and even thought I might have a motherboard problem. Nothing I read seemed right for my problem until I read your posting.
Thanks very, very much.
The fix was instantaneous, and what a relief !
You're the best.
