Acer aspire 5532

Hello,
Battery charged up but when turned on it only lasts 7-10 minutes.bought a new replacement battery,when charging the yellow charging indicator keeps turning off so it doesn't get charged. I tried to take battery out and powered up with the mains,sometimes it doesn't turn on at all and sometimes it does only for a couple of minutes. What could be the problem?

It could be the charger/ac adapter which needs replacing rather than the battery.
