For a while now the top centimetre of the screen would be white with lines going through it. This would go further down the screen at times but if I moved the screen all the way forward and back a few times it would go back to being just at the top of the screen or gone entirely.

This made me think it was a loose cable. Last night I was watching shows on it with laptop sideways cause I was lying down. Now today when I turned on laptop it started with a white screen then got darker except for a rectangle in middle of screen that's still white, this is all I can get laptop to display.

I would take it apart and see if it's a loose connection but I'm scared I won't be able to get it back together again.

Any advice appreciated as repair shop says 90 if it's a loose connection and 250 I'd screen needs replacing.

Hi,

Here's a complete guide on how to disassemble your laptop that may help.

- Do check the ribbon cable first it's loose or not.
- Remove the ribbon cable on both ends then put it back in making sure it's seated properly.
- If this will not work the only option would be to replace the display itself.

Here's a replacement screen for your laptop.
