Acer Aspire notebook

I just bought anAcer Aspire E 15 Start ES1-512-P7TZ notebook andi was wondering about the slot on the right side.Is it an empty space to install a DVD player and if not what is it for?I am kind of disappointed if I can't install one and have to use an external player.Please someone give me an answer.Thank you.

It appears that this laptop does not come with (nor support) and internal DVD drive. This is becoming more common with super thin, lightweight systems.
