What do you mean "turning off paging"?

A note about Services:
I object to the disabling of BITS and Computer Broswer, but it shouldn't kill anything except your ability to use Windows / Microsoft Update and network sharing, respetively.

Windows Time is harmelss, and it actually works if you point it to a respectable time server (I use ntp.org ones).

Generally, unless it's a really egregious thing like Remote Registry or Messenger, I set to 'Manual', just in case.

Turn off Paging File

If you’ve upgraded your memory to the maximum 1.5GB, then you can turn off the paging file, which will greatly reduce startup time and speed up general usage. I do not recommend doing this though if you have less than 1GB of RAM. To disable the paging file, go to System Properties > Settings (under performance), select the “advanced” tab, then click the Change (under virtual memory) button. Click on the “No paging file” radio button and then click “set” and “apply”. You will have to restart your machine for the changes to take effect.

I don't know what your source for that is, but you should never disable the Windows Swap file. Never. Set to system managed and try your apps again
