Now I know the Lenovo is slighty more powerful, but I plan to use this for gaming and I know they will be around the same performance when it comes to that. I know that the 660m and 640m are essentially the same cards but the 660m has a higher clocked GPU. Also the Acer has a larger screen which I kind of like. Now I factor the build quality at a high importance and I simply don't know which laptop is built better, and I cant tell which laptop is built better by looking at pictures, but by the looks of it the Lenovo might have a nicer touchpad, but there are obviously many more things to consider. Any thoughts on what might be the better build quality or which laptop I should go for?

I am trying to keep it under $750 I was originally going to just buy it new for $850, with the 720p screen. I dont need the 1080p version, and im not that picky about picture quality as long as it looks decent. I found a Y580 on ebay for 739.00 Manufacturer Refurbed, which appears to be the best deal, only downside is it doesn't have 8GB, but it does have the i7-3610QM CPU which is very nice. This is the Y580 I plan on purchasing

Are you kidding me? most of my friend's Acer laptop died on them after their warranty expired... and your saying excellent build quality???

I have seen a lot of laptops for a lot of brands do this. My dads 7 year old laptop died out of warranty 3 months ago. Should I never trust that company again?

ok, but remember that the 1080p is not about resolution solely. The viewing angles, colors, contrast, brightness - all are better. It's because they use higher quality 1080p screens than they usually use for the 900p and 768p.

Just to clarify, resolution does not determine viewing angle, color, contrast, brightness, etc. Resolution is just that resolution. The other things you are talking about is determined by the quality of the screen itself. There are good 1080p screen, there are also bad 1080p screens. It just so happens that the 1920x1080 screen is a better quality TN panel than the standard 1366x768 screen. The brightness of the screen is determined by the LCD's backlight.

People who usually complain about laptops dying after the warranty has expired (especially when talking about Acer) mean that they died shortly right after the warranty expired, not years.
