Acer Laptop 5920 Will not power up

Hello,
I have an acer 5920 that will not power up. I already tested the ac adapter. I recently replaced the dc wire harness, but still no luck with it powering up. I was wondering if it could be the motherboard? When I replaced the dc jack wiring harness, I noticed that there was a smell coming from the spot where you plug it into the motherboard. It feels very hot and I still get no lights, no power, no fans, nothing. I do know that the dc jack is good, I tested it.
Just trying to get a second opinion. Thanks in advance.

I own a lappy repair company..

We get this sometimes when we THINK its the jack but its actually the charging CIRCUIT burnt out on the motherboard...

NEW mobo time is only option 🙁

I just wanted to make sure before I went and bought a new MOBO. Thanks for the information. I kept on 2nd guessing myself if that was actually the problem or if i did something wrong. But, I kind of figured that the MoBo was burnt out.
