acer laptop no display

My Acer ES1 512 laptop has a blank and black screen, the power turns on but no display, the charger light is on when charging so it's charging and the CD draw works. Their is no battery to take out and it was fine when I last used it

Did you try to connect an external monitor to it? Did you make any updates to the OS or drivers lately? It has a LED back light so the backlight should not have burnt out. Try flexing the lid back and forth to see if that has an effect.

Can you please confirm if your laptop doesn't have any battery or it is no more functioning or damaged? If you have been using your laptop without any battery and directly from the power supply, you can easily hard reset it. To do so:

> Unplug your laptop from the power adapter.

> If there is any battery, remove it. (If it doesn't have battery, simply unplugging the power adapter would do.)

> Press and hold down the Power button for 45-60 seconds.

> Release the Power button.

> Connect the power adapter and try turning it on this time.

If the above solution fails to resolve the issue, you can try clearing the CMOS. To do so:

> Open the back panel of your laptop.

> Locate and pull out the CMOS battery. (A CMOS battery is round in shape and a bit bigger than that used in wrist watches.)

> Leave the laptop alone without the CMOS battery for 20-30 minutes.

> Power on the laptop first without CMOS battery and then with CMOS battery to check if the display appears this time.

Press the FN key and the F6 key which turns on and off the back light. Hook up an external monitor if available, to the HDMI connector and press the FN and F5 key to switch between the internal and external monitor
