Acer predator with I7 7700HQ a good buy for 1100$

I mainly use the laptop for programming and gaming. My previous system was a Intel core i5 6500 with 16GB ram and GTX 1060 6GB , due to portability issues i had to sell my desktop and now i have decided to buy the Acer predator laptop. How is the performance when compared to the current gen I5 8300H laptops and I7 8750H. I'm not a content creator i just do some video conversion sometimes.

Video conversion from what? Content creators can come in all different shapes and sizes(even the content they create) so you can be considered a content creator as well...provided you're going to upload them for posterity's sake. Since it doesn't come with a mechanical drive, I'd suggest you also look into a portable storage device or include a mechanical drive as a factor in your laptop purchase criteria.

I already have a old laptop which has a mechanical HDD,my current machine is a laptop with core i7 2620M with 8 GB RAM. I will be buying only from US. just need to know whether the laptop is worth the price.
