I have a new ACER E5-575G on Windows 10 with an Atheros QCA9377 wireless card. When I connect via cable speeds are great. When I connect wirelessly to my Verizon FIOS router WI424WRI the download/upload speed is a terrible 5/40 (suing verizon speed test). As a reference my Samsung tablet was 80/86. When I connect the ACER to my verizon hotspot I get the opposite with 39/5. Tried latest drivers.

Have you tried disconnecting your laptop from the WiFi, rebooting the router/modem and then once it is completely up again, tried reconnecting the laptop to the WiFi? Yes I know you said the tablet works fine, but depending on what is on your network, it can interfere with the newer items connecting.

You should also consider changing the WiFi password (or putting a password on it if you don't have one).

yes I did. nothing. Per google searches I tried turning off blue tooth. I also set the power management to max performance. Checked that wifi antenna was seated correctly. These steps did not help or just gave me marginal improvement. Per another google search I uncheck the WMM setting on the router. Performance a lot better afterwards. Still not good but numbers jumped to around 20/20. I will keep chipping away. Verizon and ACER support absolutely no help.

It may be the wireless adapter in the laptop as well. They can go bad. You might want to see if someone has an external one they can loan you, which plugs in via USB and see if you get better speeds then. If that is the case, you would need to either replace the internal one, or get another external one.

I have a gen 7, i3 and i5. With a Verizon FIOS modem. Both have DL speeds of 100kps. My older Acer works fine as do my HP laptops. There is CLEARLY a compatibility issue. ASUS has no clue. For the i3, I bought a USB dangling wireless device for $40. Works perfectly. God has cursed me because the new i5 ES-575-33BM does the same F********* thing! Next step is to try this new i5 at my office which has a different modem and provider. If it works there then Verizon will be getting a demand to figure out the problem. I thought this crap ended last century!

My 2 new Acer Aspire laptops have 802.11ac wireless cards. In my case all other wireless devices worked fine with my FIOS modem. The New Acers did not. Acer tech was worthless. A fios tech....after 2 hrs finally determined that their older modem WILL NOT WORK with 802.11ac wireless cards. DOH! They are sending their newer modem with IS compatible. I knew it was a compatibility issue because my other laptops worked fine and the acer laptops worked with my network at my office which is a different provider. What a PITA! The remarkable thing is that there was nothing on the internet about FIOS modems and new ACER computers. Now there is.
