Ak8753 :
I plan on getting a gaming laptop soon, and i am kind of set on an alienware 17 r3 since i have always wanted an alienware product. I am looking to spend between 1500 and 2300 dollars on something that will last awhile and run anything new coming out. Currently i play things like league, witcher 3 , fallout 4 , WOW, and so on. I have read mixed reviews about alienware, from they are actually great to they suck. So i come and ask here is it worth buying one of the 17 r3 systems.
Though not comprehensive and completely subjective, here is a good place to start

I think you will be fine buying an Alienware 17 R3...
In reference to opinions about Alienware, they are owned by Dell, a company that overall hasn't had the best of reputations over the years. Do your comparisons, possibly consider other brands (Origin, MSI, ASUS). I know you want an Alienware but don't be blinded by the brand and not consider the competition. Another company might offer better quality products, specs or even a better value.
The second most important factor to consider: Aside from the hardware / design itself, the single most important thing I would consider when spending $1500 to $2000 on a gaming laptop is the kind of Warranty / Support you will be getting. These things can fail, they are subjected to immense heat, constant abuse (from misuse or regular use) and accidents (being they are mostly portable). Being able to get your investment fixed and you back into the game is important.
I hope I've offered a little help.
