After I take a shot my 8700 shuts off. I have to press on the CLICK as if to take a shot to get it to turn back on.......any

I just bought the camera.............after I take a pic the camera shuts off......if I click to take another pic it turns back on.............for some reason it is shutting off after I take a pic, with regards to taking a pic, but the camera is still on...just nothing coming up so I can take another immediate pic
