Alienware 17 laptop.

Led on power cord and power button on cpu lit with battery in. Led on cord on but not power button led with battery out. Won't turn on in either scenario. Any thoughts on what's wrong? Should cpu turn on without battery in?

Yes, laptop should run without battery attached, provided laptop is connected to mains-adapter of course, and mains-adapter is switched on at the wall-socket.
