I believe its just a manufacturer code for their models.basically there is not really any difference.both have the same cpu and gpu.both have the same res.dont know why is there a $50 price different.best is to get straight from dell.u might get a discount if you know how to haggle.

I checked dell site today they have stopped offering 1080p resolution in their base model for customization and the other one in too expensive for my budget, so what shud i do in this situation?

Yeah this is a recent happening, i think Alienware ALW17-4681sLV 17-Inch Laptop on amazon.com suits my budget, but i am in doubt if given specifications will match the end product delivered. Is there such possibility?

This is usually the case with online order.i believe the spec should match as it is the lowest base spec of the aw 17.what you really need to check when the laptop arrive is the screen res.my friend bought one off ebay which state 1080p res but receive a 1600x900 native spec.luckily he was able to return the unit.amazon should be okay compare to ebay.
