Alienware 17 R2 Very Slow Performance

Hi guys,

My Alienware 17 R2 has been performing very slowly recently, particularly on games - I'll notice quite a bit of lagging (online and offline) in FPS or - particularly with Football Manager, in-game searches being very slow to return results etc.

Dell came out and replaced my whole motherboard (which includes the GPU) and hard-drive in December, I did a fresh Windows 8.1 install and then the upgrade to Windows 10 and it's STILL giving me crappy performance. I've also bought new RAM - some Hyper-X.

I've defragged, checked the disk for errors, got rid of as much bloatware as I can, and upgraded all drivers to the latest versions.

Any ideas on what I might be missing?

See if there are any BIOS updates for your laptop. Just make sure you close all the applications you are currently running before you run it.

Bios is fully up to date 🙁

I would wipe it and start over. I know it sucks to do that, but it's a guaranteed fix.

As above dude, it's already had a wipe - and a new hard drive and motherboard.

Just make sure you change the OS to all the options.
Sometimes Dell puts the more upto date bios for another OS (When they should've put it in all categories, Just avoid any Linux specific BIOS it'll be labeled as such.)

Though I believe it might be Harddrive related, what Drive do you have in there?

The bios is definitely the most recent - A06 - and the hard drive has already been replaced by Dell, but it's a HGST HTS721010A9E630.
